Neat! Thanks!
We always received cards, but we did not have enough time to write everyone back. I rarely wrote people back that I did not know, not because I did not want to, but because my free time was spent trying to stay in touch with my own family.
My wife does scrapbooking and card making stuff. Her and a bunch of her friends created hundreds of blank cards and sent them over with envelopes. There were cards for almost every occasion, plus generic cards. Troops could grab a card, write their message inside and stick it in the mail for free. We had cards available at the PX, but there was not a wide selection. I remember looking for a card for our kid's first birthday and they cards they had in stock started with "Happy 5th Birthday". I just scratched out the 5 and put a 1 on the card
A lot of stuff gets sent overseas and we got spoiled with the stuff sent from the states. I swear I have never had so many chapsticks, crossword puzzle books, toothbrushes and deodarants in my life.
will share this on face book as well
