Phantom Thunder at Fort Hood (May 2011)

We ran Phantom Thunder today at Fort Hood. The unit that put it on (41st Fires Brigade) did a great job setting everything up.

My wife parked on the sideof the road at about the 2/3 mark of the 72 mile route and snapped 1100 high res photos of the riders.

I am not going to be able to put them online until after the weekend, but we will put them online incase anyone that rode wants a few photos of them riding.

    Update: Here are the photos

She was snapping photos one right after the other. The good thing is that she should have enough continuous photo sequences that every single rider should be able to snag a photo from the ride showing them and their bike. The bad thing is that a lot of the photos look alike with the exception of the bikes being a few feet forward.

Good ride today. I heard a dog messed up at least one rider's day, but I heard he ended up with a few scratches.. The ambulance was quick to respond and I am pretty sure they had a black hawk flying above the formation the whole 72 miles.

They announced another ride like this later this year at Fort Hood. Hopefully we can drag some of the riders out that have been hiding.

Here are the photos we took of the ride. My wife was in one position after a turn so everyone was going a little slower. She tried to get everyone.

She just snapped photo after photo. We really wanted to make sure that anyone that rode got their photo taken. The Military photographers were great about snapping photos, but then they only release / share a handful. I am sure there are people that rode that would not mind their picture.

Fort Hood put out a little over 20 photos. Some of the photos are from the black hawk that followed us the whole ride. They can be found here:
