News: Tough times undermine generosity at NY biker bar

    http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2011/...t_8353795.html

For 30 years the owner provided a free buffet on Sundays the homeless, the unemployed, the elderly and whole families struggling to make ends meet - no questions asked.

He got laid off 2 yrs ago, started dipping into his social security to cover the costs of the weekly meals and finally had to end the Sunday meals.

I was thinking the same thing last night. I looked all over for an email address, but could not find any. The only contact info they had listed was a phone number on their site. 518-382-8590 on http://the-saw-mill.com

After reading comments on their facebook page, Don Birch seems like a respected man in that town. Don is 73 and dipping into his Social Security was honorable, but could not last forever. I am going to try to call today. I am not sure if they would be open this early on a weekday, but if I get any info I will post it up.
